"In the autumn evenings, when the shining sun sinks above the hill-ridge and crows fly in groups of three, four, and two to their nests; even more enchanting is a flight of wild geese, specks against a distant sky. When the sun has set, one is stirred by the sound of the wind and the hum of insects."
- Sei Shonagon, The Pillow Book
A light brown round faceted tourmaline sinks into this design like an autumn evening sun. It disappears into a hill of three concentric circles: one smooth, one textured, and one sandblasted gold disc. Even when viewed from the front, the design unmistakably evokes the image of the sun. The ring is the result of traditional goldsmithing, crafted from gold plates.
The Fall ring is part of the Pillow Book set—four pieces of jewelry inspired by the four seasons as described by Sei Shōnagon.
